Patria Direct Jizerská 50 again under the auspices of the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Republic

[19. 08. 2008] The next edition of the Patria Direct Jizerská 50 will also take place under the auspices of Přemysl Sobotka, the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the CzechRepublic. Dr. Sobotka has also become a member of the Honorary Presidium of the cross-country ski race. A Liberec native and patriot, he has thus clearly demonstrated that the Patria Direct Jizerská 50 is very close to his heart.

“I have actually been with the Jizerská 50 since the very beginning,” says Přemysl Sobotka, Chairman of the Senate and second man of the republic. “In addition to the competitive aspect, it also has another dimension for me –in the form of a memory of Expedition
Peru 1970. I am pleased that the legacy of those mountain climbers continues to live on in the new and modern form of the race and that traditions have been retained that make the Jizerská 50 one of the most prestigious and most popular sports events not only in the Liberec region but also in the whole Czech Republic,” Přemysl Sobotka adds.

Spectators will be able to meet the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic not only during the main race, which he will attend to cheer on the contestants, but also during the course of the accompanying activities that will take place in Bedřichov, as well as in Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou.

Přemysl Sobotka has recently become the President of the Honorary Presidium of the Patria Direct Jizerská 50. It was constituted in September 2006 and is the advisory body for the race. It is made up of prominent personalities of Czech sports and social life who have contributed to the development of ski sports in the CzechRepublic

and have significantly supported and cooperated on the advancement of the Patria Direct Jizerská 50 race. The founding members are the Olympic medallists Květa Jeriová-Pecková, Radim Nyč, and the outstanding Czech skier Stanislav Henych.
